New Buffalo Engagement Proposal Photographer - Alyssa Staats Photography

Over the last few years, New Buffalo has become quite the hot spot for proposals! It's a beautiful little beach town, with a gorgeous beach, great shopping, great restaurants, and tons of Airbnbs and luxurious hotels to stay at.

Being a New Buffalo photographer means I capture quite a lot of proposals here, which is so much fun!

The most recent proposal I photographed at New Buffalo beach was this February! It was a cold, crisp, overcast, wintery day, but it was oh so beautiful! Cole and Madison were visiting from the South Bend area had planned to have dinner at Beer Church, and he wanted to pop the question afterwards. He and I planned out their arrival and the location for the big moment and it was flawless! We got to get some photos with the remaining shelf ice in the background which was really cool too!

Next up is Jevaughn & Hannah!

Jevaughn had big plans for his proposal and they went off without a hitch. It was epic!

Jevaughn found a company that has these huge marquee letters and was able to bring them all the way to New Buffalo with a generator and set them up in the grass in my favorite spot.

Needless to say, Hannah was speechless when she walked up and read the words MARRY ME at the top of the hill.

They had just gotten a new house together and he told her that he had arranged for a friend from work that is a photographer to take photos of them at the beach so they had pictures to hang around their home. I was "the photographer friend" and had texted with them as her so she was dressed and ready to go with no idea a proposal was on the way!

If you scroll halfway down the below images, you'll see him showing her the inside of her ring. He had in inscribed for her. Her reaction was priceless.

Also, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect sky on this beautiful September night!

And then we have Ryan & Ally!

Their stunning morning proposal last August was picture perfect! I love an overcast day for photos, and once the big moment was over, you can see the sun came out shining and it was GLOWING!

Ryan & Ally were vacationing with her family in beautiful New Buffalo last summer and he decided he wanted to sneak away one morning and propose to her 🥰 When he asked me to be their photographer, I obviously said YES!

The whole family was in on the gig and planned to meet up afterwards for a few photos all together to celebrate! How FUN is that?!

Loved that family joined in on the fun at the end!

Justin & Lizzie were on a long weekend getaway in beautiful New Buffalo last October and he wanted to pop the question while they were there and have it photographed! We had a gorgeous sunny evening, with lots of wind, but we worked with it and it was absolutely stunning!

It's crazy how much New Buffalo changes from season to season. Labor Day hits and things clear out, the beach grass starts getting rust tones, you can walk into The Stray Dog and not wait for a table, and you've got the beach to yourself.

But it's absolutely still a gorgeous spot to visit!! See below 😍

Last spring we had a series of days where the wildfires in California and Canada were causing a lot of haze, overcast days, and really interesting colors in the sky around sunset. You can see the warm tones here because of it!

Danny hired me to photograph his proposal to Elizabeth at New Buffalo Beach at sunset and this was during that hazy time. You can almost feel the haze in the air in these photos, and I love how they almost have a look of film photography to them because of it!

This beautiful April proposal was the perfect way to start off spring at the beach for me last year. Beautiful couple, beautiful empty beach, and a beautiful evening together capturing a once in a lifetime moment for these two 🥰

This beautiful early fall proposal was just so stunning!

Gavin and Katie were on cloud 9 the entire time... she was so surprised, and of course, she said YES!

Can't wait for you to sift through these photos from their proposal and afterwards. We had so much fun and I loved getting to photograph their love and happiness 🥰
